Uganda chosen by the White House and Israel in 2019 as Strategic Partner Country
Arthur Stark, the Chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, said their visit has exposed them to the existing partnership opportunities between Uganda, Israel and America. “We came here specifically for strategic alliance, to see how we can build it and to learn what opportunities are here,” said Stark. He revealed that every year, the White House and Israel choose a strategic partner country, and this year, Uganda was identified as one such country in Africa.
The Conference of Presidents represents 53 major Jewish Organizations from the United States. They coordinate with the White House, Congress, the Media and other leaders throughout the American spectrum with the objective of strengthening relationships between Israel, America and other foreign countries.

President Trump's first trip to Africa will be to Uganda in December 2019
Donald Trump will finally be visiting Africa in 2019. One of the countries listed on his travel calendar is Uganda. The other countries include South Africa, Ghana and Ethiopia. It is not known whether he will make the Africa trip shortly after the trip to Chile in November or it will be after his trip to United Kingdom in December.
Following Ivanka Trump’s visit to the continent this year, Trump made amendments to his calendar in order to accommodate Africa. Uganda will be the first Country in Africa to receive Donald Trump. Trump is believed to share a special connection with President Museveni and sees him as a great US ally.

GLOBAL FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IS DOWN, BUT NOT IN AFRICA
New report shows Africa is defying the current slowdown in global foreign direct investment.
Global money is banking on African growth, reduced barriers to cross-border trade and affordable access to commodities.
From 2017 to 2018, global FDI fell from $1.5 trillion to $1.3 trillion, according to an analysis by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The conference released its 2019 World Investment Report this week, showing that global FDI not only hit its lowest level since the global financial crisis, but has also been on the decline for three consecutive years.
One region defied this trend: Africa. In 2018, roughly $46bn worth of FDI flowed into Africa, an 11 percent increase compared to 2017. This is significant for the continent because when a company or an individual makes an FDI, they are said to be establishing a long-term business interest in a foreign country. The expectation is that they will not only invest money, but also time, and soft assets (i.e. technology, expertise and training).
